Travling to Bogota, Colombia?

Travling to Bogota, Colombia?
So I'm a 17 year old Canadian Male. In Febuary I have a very close colombia friend coming to Nova Scotia for a student exchange and her family invited me to fly back with her and stay with them for awhile. Her family is very rich and lives in the safe part of Bogota and I trust her very much. But I'm wondering how safe it is in the Streets? Does anyone have any tips for me for flying or buying or eating?

bogota is so much safer now. just stick with the locals, don't go crazy getting drunk and flashing money, don't fight with anyone they carry guns. also on the first couple of days don't run or heavy labor, get used to the high altitude, some people develope alpine fever or black lungs. i drink bottled water, wash veggies with lemon water peel all fruits, go to andres carne de res, oma coffee,

You're a lucky dude! Bogota is not an unsafe place to visit if you don't go wandering off on your own without heeding the guidance of people who live there. You have a friend who lives there --- trust their advice about places that are dangerous and don't go looking for trouble. The good parts of Bogota are very safe and you'll have zero problems walking around in them. For example, the neighborhood of Candelaria is a popular upscale neighborhood with clubs, boutique shops and galleries ---- you can walk around there even fairly late at night with nobody messing with you. There's other parts of the city where you'll want a bodyguard or an armored car. Flying: no problem --- just don't be surprised to see LOTS of armed security in the airport and more drug-sniffing dogs than you ever realized existed in the whole universe. Eating: no problem, the water's also generally safe to drink in Colombia (though no reason not to suspect it if it gives you an excuse to drink more beer). Speaking of beer, Club Colombia is the tastiest of the mainstream beers. Bogota Beer Company has good homebrewed beers on tap (great place to meet hot women too).

Hey. I'm european, I did the same thing and guess what? I loved it so much, I stayed, I'm currently living in Cartagena, Colombia, bogota is very different, yes. Starting with the weather, Cartagena is hot as hell an bogota is cold, Colombia is such a great expereince, if you wanna learn spanish, bogota is like the best thing ever, bogota's spanish is reagrded as the best and the clearest, I didn't came here to learn, because I'm spanish, so already speak spanish, just to say hello and to gwt to know something different. And here I am, I love this, I'm very happy. Bogota is such a great city, and no, it isn't dangerous at all if you're smart enough, is like, would you go to a guetto in NY or LA at midnight? no. just tak the regular precautions.. and you'll be fine. Your friend surely would tell you and help you about everything. Try everything when it comes to food, it's amazing. If you're gonna be here in colombia, you should come to Cartagena, colombia's turistic spot per excellence, it's gorgeous.. google it. And nothing else, you're 17, so have fun! party in Colombia is great, too

in the fall of 2001, students in Colombia, South Carolina, raised $440,000 to buy a new fire truck for New York City. If the money had beem collected in pennies, how many pennies would that have been? in scientific notation?

idk sorry

There's a hundred pennies in a dollar, so you multiply 440,000 by 100 to get 44,000,000. That's how many pennies they have. In scientific notation, that would be 4.4 x 10^7.

Yam's answer is correct, but do you know the whole story of why the City of Columbia wanted to replace a FDNY engine? The story begins in latter stages of the South's War for Independence, called the Civil War. Shortly after the war criminals Sherman and Lincoln had Columbia burned to the ground in revenge for South Carolina being the first state to legally secede from the Union, Zouaves in the service of the Union army began the occupation of Columbia. These Zouaves were volunteers in the New York City's fire department. All Columbia's fire fighting equipment had been destroyed by the invaders so the Zouaves began to help rebuild the Columbia Fire Department. They procured apparatus from New York City, which was shipped south by ship. The ship sank off the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The Zouaves had their friends in New York, raise even more money and a second lot of fire equipment was shipped south that became the post war Columbia Fire Department. The Zouaves built a fire station from the bricks of chimneys left standing by the burning of Columbia. It's near the capital and was an Italian Restaurant at one time. A former Columbia Chief told me this story over supper there one night. At one time I thought I had located on of the hand pumpers in Upstate South Carolina, but that has yet to be verified.
