Depending on your specific case, grades, age, etc., you may have to sit the 12th grade, especially as it would help you gain more experience with American history, teaching trends, college admission procedures (VERY different from Colombia in that matter), etc. You can sit the SAT in Bogotá, it's obviously not as common as Saber 11 but some people (more each year) do it in order to accelerate their process. To sign up for it, you can do it at the ets website via credit card, and you can schedule your exam. Same for ACT. As you are most likely a proficient Spanish-language speaker (judging by your [very good] English orthography - people who are sloppy tend to be so in any language they use), you can also get some Spanish credits via CLEP once you get to the States. BTW, I understand the Colombo-Americano institute gives some free assistance (and some very expensive guidance) for people wanting to go there, in terms of requirements, forms, schedules, etc. Remember that the process usually takes about a year and a half from the moment you decide to go there to the moment you begin your first day of school. It may be a bit more or a bit less depending on your case. So, whatever your goal is, keep reading, keep asking (here or anywhere else), keep searching, and sooner or later you'll be there.

What type of visa does a Colombian need to study English in the UK for 6 months and work part-time?

What type of visa does a Colombian need to study English in the UK for 6 months and work part-time?
With the student visa, can you work? Or do u need to apply for an employment/work visa if u want to get a job beside studying? What exactly is the working permit? Where and how could u receive it? On the British embassy in Colombia or already in England? How much does it cost? is it enough to be able to work beside studying? Or does it come automatically with the student visa?

You can only study work with the Tier 4 visa, if you qualify. Here are the informations: http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf29pbsstudent#21979526 If you qualify only for the student visitor visa (6 months) you will be not able to work on a visitor visa. You have to apply for a different type of visa if you want to work, for example Tier 5 - Temporary worker visa. A visa is always for a specific purpose. http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/en/howtoapply/infs/inf2visitors#21552282 Procedure from Colombia and visa fee: https://www.visainfoservices.com/Pages/Welcome.aspx - select Colombia on the front page.

How can my half sister come to america and attend school?

How can my half sister come to america and attend school?
She is 17 and lives in Colombia. I want her to come live with me in Florida for, I don't know, more than a month probably? I would like for her to go to high school during that time (12th grade), kind of like if she was an exchange student. Can anyone offer any help to make this come true? ^_^ I am not sure what I am supposed to do. Our parents are ok with it.

yes she can check out some link : www.panamareals.com www.americamagazine.org www.goftp.com www.myimmigrationstory.com

She would have to be accepted into a foreign exchange student program and live with a family approved by the program to obtain the visa. Otherwise, no visa to enter the US & go to school. Also, you pay out-of-district tuition for her at the school unless she is in a foreign exchange student program with a participating school. There are also problems with unaccompanied minors flying into the US. If child is not accompanied by both parents, or else enrolled in an approved study abroad program, there will probably be problems. Third, this looks like a backdoor immigration scam, and will likely trigger suspicions with immigration.

Permanent legal residents can only sponsor a spouse or their own child. US citizens can sponsor a parent or sibling. So it depends on your status whether you can sponsor her. The first step for a prospective nonimmigrant exchange visitor is to be accepted in an established exchange visitor program that is Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) certified. Exchange Visitor program participants are expected to return to their home countries to utilize the experience and skills they have acquired while in the U.S. Questions regarding an exchange program(s) should be directed to the program sponsor. So try for a regular F1 visa. http://www.immigrationebooks.com/student.visitor.html http://www.immigrationdirect.com/visas/visitor/Temporary-Exchange-Visitor-%28J-1-Visa%29.jsp

She can try to get a student visa, but for HS she could only attend for one year. She will have to show she has the money to pay for the HS tuition, around $10,000,it is not free. She will have to return back to her home country after her student visa is over.

Can you go to two different colleges while completing your undergraduate major?

Can you go to two different colleges while completing your undergraduate major?
Can you go to a second college while being enrolled and taking classes at your current college?? For example, if you are currently an undergraduate and study Psychology at Colombia University ( here in NY ) , then can you also take science classes such as Biology and Chemistry and go to Fordham University as well ( here in NY too ) ?? Is it possible to be a student at two colleges during the same semester or even longer?? If so, how do you start this process?? Please give me some tips on this. Thanks.

Sometimes colleges which are located in the same area make arrangements for their students to take courses not offered at one school at the other one. It seems to me, however, that both schools would have classes in psychology, biology and chemistry. Therefore, I think it would be unlikely that this would be permitted.
