Is it okay that the UN wants to give away half of California to the Abujans, who currently live in Colombia!?
The Abujans are Native Americans. The group's Holy book, the Abuja, mentions that their ancient Holy Land is in the southern area of California, roughly extending from Los Angeles down to the Mexican border. There are some Abujans (a very small number, perhaps 2-10%) that live in Southern California now, in peace with everyone else. The UN has dominion over this southern part of California. Do you think it's okay if the UN declares a new State will be made in this part of California and it will serve as the Homeland for the Abuja, as it is their "Historical Homeland," referenced by their Holy Book. These Native Americans suffered greatly at the hands of Colombians; it was essentially a Holocaust. They didn't suffer at the hands of Southern Californians, though. They've essentially suffered everywhere they've been. They say they need this Homeland to be safe, since no one else accepts them. Millions of Abujans from around the World can then go to Southern California. Do you think it's a good idea for the UN to take the Land and Homes of the people that currently live in Southern California and designate it the new Homeland for the Abuja? No? Do you think that Southern Californians, Northern Californians, and Americans in general might consider this to be a little Unjust? You think they might fight back? Yes? Then you kind of understand how Palestinians feel. Christian AND Muslim Palestinians. Here's a site that is maintained by a troupe of PhD students at Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and the London School of Economics, in addition to contributing scholars, that describes what Americans NEED TO KNOW about the situation in Palestine and Israel: Here it is again: http://www.ifamericansknew.org/

Well seeing has how the UN and the USA decided to give Kosovo to the Albanians, who were fleeing their own country as refugees...despite the fact that it has been part of Serbia for about 500 years. I say why not?

I like the group you chose to demonstrate your point because my dad is Nigerian (from Abuja, haha). The "Abujans" should get the Land because what European Colonization did to the Natives (and i think you'll agree with me on this given what you've written in other answers...but i understand you were trying to demonstrate a point) was absolute Genocide. I don't think anything compares to it; not even the holocaust. But of course i see your point about Israel and Palestine. They (the British) basically took away the Palestinians Lands and gave it to Jewish Settlers. i like your point about the 2-10% because in 1882 the jewish population in Palestine was only 8%, while the non-Jewish population was 92%. By the time Israel was created in 1948, the non-Jewish population (i.e. Palestinian Christians and Palestinian Muslims) was only 14%: http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsou… The creation of Israel was an absolute disaster. And today, they have the longest running Occupation on the planet. The entire World Excoriates Israel - Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, South America, etc. - for its Brutal Occupation of Palestine. In fact, the EU and UN have been trying to sentence Israeli leaders as war criminals. NELSON MANDELA himself Scolded Israel for their Brutal Apartheid Occupation (source:http://www.progressiveaustin.org/mandela… This relationship is the number One Reason that America Is Targeted by Militants (Muslim AND Christian - cause there are a lot of Arab Christians, like Shakira, Salmay Hayek, Ralph Nader, Nidal Ahmadieh (god she's hot), etc. ). Did everyone forget about Sirhan Sirhan, the Palestinian CHRISTIAN that assassinated Robert Kennedy? I don't understand (and neither does the Rest of The World) why America lends unquivocal, unprecedented support to Israel. Israel is a Big Boy. It's by far the most Militarily Advanced country in the region, and the Overwhelming Power in the Middle East. It can take care of itself. Like President Carter said, Israel has more than 160 Nuclear War Heads (although among academic circles, we understand it to be around 200). That's 160 more than any of its neighbors, LOL ! I reiterate: Israel can definitely take care of itself. I think AIPAC is probably the reason why, though, that the US fully backs the Isralei governement even though it hurts America's Interests and national security. Fortune did say it was the second most Powerful Lobby in Washington: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/f… Which makes it the most Powerful Lobby on American Foreign Policy in Washington. By far. Thanks for that great website. I'm a postdoc student in England. I could use those statistics!

I hear you, the whole issue sucks. As for the "Abujan's", as much as that property is valued I doubt it will ever be taken for public use. They'ed probably give them Oklahoma. Oh wait, they already tried that. Capitalism and the the idealistic westward expansion of manifest destiny strike again. Interesting how we are so intent on defending the native homelands of people's abroad but when it comes to the natives of the land we live in it's all about property values and convenience. Thanks for the link by the way, that's a great one.

Great idea. The USA is stolen form natives so it's only fair.

The Jews were in Israel for what 600 years before the Muslim religion even existed. SO by your logic this makes the Jews the Abuja and the Palestinians the eqivelent of Americans. There is no "Palestinians" they are a mix of other Muslim and mid Eastern refugees and its not like there is not enough desert over in that part of the world that they can't go back were they came from. FAIL

"Then you kind of understand how Palestinians feel" Apples and oranges. Problem is that the Palestinian connection to what is now Israel, is based on lies. Helping the Palestinians Falsify History http://www.commentarymagazine.com/blogs/index.php/evelyn-gordon/172342 Let me give you a true anecdote written to a Jerusalem newspaper by an Israeli citizen. Now, this Israeli was friends with an Arab family since he was a little child. After he has grown up, he buys their 2 room house from them. (The Arab family had owned that house for 90 years). The Israeli sets about expanding the house from a 2 room to a 5 room house. One day he is relaxing in his newly renovated home when theres a knock at the door. At the door is an Arab gentleman and a young boy. The gentleman identifies himself as a member of the family that lived in the house. He wanted permission to show his young son his old home where he was born and lived as a child. The Israeli, who has known the previous Arab owners practically all his life, doesnt recognize or remember this Arab gentleman as being a member of the family. Still, he thought he could be wrong, and allowed the Arab in to show his son around. Much to the Israelis surprise, the Arab gentleman went into great specific detail over his memories of the place. He would go from room to room, describing to his son how he and/or a member of the family did this and that in this room, such and such in that room. Problem was that the Arab Gentleman was doing this to the rooms that the Israeli had added on after he bought the place. The rooms that didnt exist before then.

No, you are incorrect...palestine never belonged to itself...it always belonged to other countries... excerpt... The name "Palestine" is the cognate of an ancient word meaning "Philistines" or "Land of the Philistines".[7][8][9] The earliest known mention is thought to be in Ancient Egyptian texts of the temple at Medinet Habu which record a people called the P-r-s-t (conventionally Peleset) among the Sea Peoples who invaded Egypt in Ramesses III's reign.[10] The Hebrew name Peleshet (פלשת Pəléshseth)- usually translated as Philistia in English, is used in the Bible to denote the southern coastal region that was inhabited by the Philistines to the west of the ancient Kingdom of Judah.[11] The Assyrian emperor Sargon II called the same region Palashtu or Pilistu in his Annals.[7][8][8][12] In the 5th century BCE, Herodotus wrote in Ancient Greek of a 'district of Syria, called Palaistinê" (whence Palaestina, whence Palestine).[7][13][14][15] According to Moshe Sharon, Palaestina was commonly used to refer to the coastal region, and shortly thereafter, the whole of the area inland to the west of the Jordan River.[7] The latter extension occurred when the Roman authorities, following the suppression of the Bar Kokhba rebellion in the 2nd century CE, renamed "Provincia Judea" (Iudaea Province; originally derived from the name "Judah") to "Syria Palaestina" (Syria Palaestina), in order to complete the dissociation with Judaea.[16][17] During the Byzantine period, the entire region (Syria Palestine, Samaria, and the Galilee) was named Palaestina, subdivided into Diocese I and II.[18] The Byzantines also renamed an area of land including the Negev, Sinai, and the west coast of the Arabian Peninsula as Palaestina Salutoris, sometimes called Palaestina III.[18] The Arabic word for Palestine is Philistine (commonly transcribed in English as Filistin, Filastin, or Falastin).[19] Moshe Sharon writes that when the Arabs took over Greater Syria in the 7th century, place names that were in use by the Byzantine administration before them, generally continued to be used. Hence, he traces the emergence of the Arabic form Filastin to this adoption, with Arabic inflection, of Roman and Hebrew (Semitic) names.[7] Jacob Lassner and Selwyn Ilan Troen offer a different view, writing that Jund Filastin, the full name for the administrative province under the rule of the Arab caliphates, was traced by Muslim geographers back to the Philistines of the Bible.[20] The use of the name "Palestine" in English became more common after the European renaissance.[21] The name was officially revived and used after the fall of the Ottoman Empire (1517–1917) and applied to the territory in this region that was placed under the British Mandate for Palestine. Some other terms that have been used to refer to all or part of this land include Canaan, Greater Israel, Greater Syria, the Holy Land, Iudaea Province, Judea,[22] Israel, "Israel HaShlema", Kingdom of Israel, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Land of Israel (Eretz Yisrael or Ha'aretz), Levant, Retenu (Ancient Egyptian), Southern Syria, and Syria Palestina.

This doesn't make any sense! Why would the UN cut up their Communist Utopia work in progress!? Oh no, I'm confused! Do you think Dear Leader Obama will let this happen? Well, he is a wise and omnipotent comrade, so maybe this is to further advance the cause of utopia on earth! Yeah, the Israeli - Palestinian conflict makes me sick too. Then when someone like Ron Paul speaks out about the Israeli aggression and terrorism, they're called an "Anti-Semite". Anti-Semite would imply you hate all Semitic peoples, which most Muslims and middle easterners are as well; not just Jews. What was it that made the US start helping Israel to being with? The Holocaust of course. It was based on the idea that the Germans would start killing Jews again for some odd reason. Never mind the fact that Hitler was dead, and only tiny groups of brain-washed thugs did the killing. And never mind the fact that the vast majority of citizens were horrified when they realized what was really going on. Those damn Germans will start it again in 10-20yrs! :-/ As far as I know, Germany actually pays an annual apologist reparation to Israel; as if modern Germans are all responsible for the Holocaust? Pretty sad... Especially since, by now, nearly all of the Nazi orchestraters are dead or were captured and punished years ago (rightfully so). But it doesn't make sense to punish an entire country for something an old government did generations ago. The same thing is true of trying to punish the United States for the horrible things our government did to the natives. Yes, it was wrong. But no, you can't punish innocent people today because of what happened before they were born. But that is Marxist logic at its finest. I am a Christian, and have not a drop of prejudice against the Jew or the Muslim. However, I HATE killing and violence; especially when it is so senseless. Looking at the statistics of the violence between Israel and Palestine, it's obvious who the aggressors are. If I were a Palestinian, I couldn't say I would be above striking back. We seem to think here in the west that we have "socially evolved", and are somehow better than those people and our ancestors. What nonsense! We are so "ethical" and "nice" because we are all raised rich and comfortably; especially compared to people abroad. Take away that wealth and comfort, and we are just as crude and violent as the ancients and the people living in third world countries. But what's even worse are militaristic countries which pride themselves on war; like Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Israel. America has fallen victim to this mindset as well. It can be because of religion or simply ideals. In Israel, it is all about religion and the idea that the Jewish people are superior and will fight to the end of time. In the Soviet Union, is was all based upon the ideals that Communism was just and right; the Capitalist enemy and bourgeois must be destroyed! In Nazi Germany, it was a mixture of occultist religion and whacky racist ideals. Sadly, these stupid fluctuations in "justifying" violence are going to continue, it seems. As time progresses, however, it will be much less about religion, and more about twisted Marxist ideology, like the Soviet Union (who already holds probably the highest death toll in history). It just goes to show, religion AND politics can spiral out of control. Gone, for the most part, are the days of "moral" crusades and "holy" violence (though examples like Israel remain). But since the early 20th century, the days of "just" violence for idealic, Marxist, warring causes have begun to usher in a new era of bloodshed. And it will be far more deadly and costly!

Apply to Simon Fraser as well as a backup. That C makes you marginal for UBC. Those are the real fees. They do not include living expenses though. They are heavily subsidized by the government of BC.

The recipe sounds good or anything from your home country.
2 :
What a sweetie you are! I would observe what they like to do and get each of them something small if you can afford it. If not that, then maybe you can get them something that's really sentimental from the heart like a beautiful casserole dish where you can serve your recipe in that way it's theirs as a family and a meal brings them all together and they'll always have something to remember you by every time they use it.
3 :
It's the thought that counts. It would probably be more meaningful if it was something you made or put together you're self. Something to remember you by after you return home, I'm sure they'll miss you.
4 :
Make them some good colombian recipe!!!! they will appreciate it a lot probably even more than something else!!!

Americans ONLY... Tell me your opinion on this stereotype....?
Americans ONLY... Tell me your opinion on this stereotype....?
I am a sociology student from Colombia in South America but I am currently studying in Germany.... We're doing a project based on stereotypes of different nationalities and I had mine on Americans. I was given 5 stereotypes about Americans and you tell me if u identify with them as an American or not. 1. FAT: Supposedly Americans tend to be fatter than people from other countries, especially American women have the reputation the most. 2. A TENDENCY TO CLAIM TO BE FROM THEIR ANCESTORS COUNTRY INSTEAD OF BEING SIMPLY WHAT THEY REALLY ARE... AMERICANS: is this accurate? do u tell people you're french or german or mexican or african or whatever eventhough u were born in the US? 3. IGNORANT OF THE WORLD: how well informed are u as an American about the world beyond the US. 4. UGLY: lol do u consider urself ugly? 5. RACIST: always labeling people skin colours, black, white etc. do you do this?

1. no 2. Yes I'm of Irish, Spanish and Native American ancestory. 3. Strong no, im a international news junkie. 4. No. 5. No
3 :
1. Yes, we are one of the more fat countries, but there are a few in Europe ahead of us. Comes with being rich. 2. Yes, people here think it is amusing to say where they are "from" even though their family has been in the US for 200 years. 3. No. I think a lot of Americans know more about the world, then the world knows about Americans. It's just that we don't care. 4. No. I think it is actually the other way around, most of the world thinks that Americans are all glamorous. 5. Yes, more than many western countries.
4 :
1. Don't identify 2. If not a Native American then they are of european decent. 3. Well informed of what is going on in the world 4. Don't identify 5. What is color? Now you ask yourself this...am I showing myself to be a racist against true Native Americans or is this a really stupid way of asking racial undertoned questions?

1. According to logical statistics, there are far more Americans dealing with obesity than any other country, I'm not projecting all Americans as obese. Check out Nation Master.com Rank Countries Amount (top to bottom) #1 United States: 30.6% #2 Mexico: 24.2% #3 United Kingdom: 23% #4 Slovakia: 22.4% #5 Greece: 21.9% #6 Australia: 21.7% #7 New Zealand: 20.9% #8 Hungary: 18.8% #9 Luxembourg: 18.4% #10 Czech Republic: 2. I don't believe people claim to be from there ancestors' country "citizenship-wise", but blood-wise, they are embracing their roots and nothing wrong with that. America is made up of different nationalities, races, cultures, religions, etc. that similarize in that they share an American culture, unlike other countries who are not made up of a pot of different nationalities, races, cultures, religions, etc. 3. I agree that most Americans are drawn to watching "reality" TV shows rather than world news television. 4. the Western culture idolizes the physical rather than the interior, sad...but true. Now we wonder why so many young girls and even women in the US go anorexic, bullemic, etc. 5. I believe that segregation, that being discrimination and racism to be exact, will always exist in this country, it's part of how America became to be, in retrospect, the Native Americans should know.
6 :
All of the above except UGLY!!! Americans are the best looking fat, insecure, ignorant, racist people in the world.
7 :
1. We are individuals and some of us are fat, some are not. 2. Yes. I don't feel there is anything wrong with acknowledging one's heritage. Americans are a blend of people's and it is a positive thing to learn about our roots. 3. Again, some are ignorant; some are not. I think other countries should not lump all of us into a single category by claiming that we are all ignorant of the world. 4. No. I'm not ugly. It's just like in your nation and everywhere else in the world. Some people are more physically attractive than others. 5. I try to treat others in the way I would wish to be treated. There are some racists in our nation, that is undeniable, but I feel that the majority of people are not racist. It's just that the racists are more vocal than those who are not racist. And this is true for other nations as well; the troublemakers are often the loudest and meanest of people.

1. yes, cuz food is really cheap and easy to get here. and the cheap kind is usually the unhealthy kind. 2. yes we do that 3. im not, i always read the news online, but a lot of ppl are and its really annoying 4. nope but many do because of number 1 lol 5. im from california and ive noticed that ppl do label. but i have also noticed that coastal ppl (east and west coast) label but not negativley whearas middle ppl may have an opinion that may be negative. but not necessarily. it really depends on the person.
9 :
This list could be asked of anyone from any country, not just Americans. Here is my opinion: 1. FAT. A great many Americans do not have to work very hard and have a lot of liesure time, plus there is an abundance of junk food available everywhere you turn. It is probably accurate to say that obesity is a growing problem, with something like 2/3 of the population somewhat heavier than they need to be. 2. ANCESTORS' COUNTRY. I was born in the US but my great grandfather came from Germany. I NEVER refer to myself as German or even German-American. I was born here, I am an American, and if anyone has a problem with that then they can go to hell. 3. IGNORANT OF WORLD. This is true to some extent, but this is something that could apply to many peoples fropm many countries. It ghas been said that a large percentage of American 8th graders can't even find their own country on a globe. What I did for my kids when they were 4 or 5 was to paste up large world maps right next to their bed, so when they got into bed they have the whole world right there to look at. Now if I ask them where a certain country is they can find it immediately. UGLY. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are a lot of ugly peole all over. A study was done once by taking a large number of faces of all types and morphing the images together, really ugly ones included. Beauty is perceived as those faces which are most average and the most blended in between extremes, in other words you could almost say the most plain. Ugly is perceived as those which have some exaggerated characteristic, like big nose, big jaw or forehead, that sort of thing. So ugly is really just an extreme, and that's spread out all over the world. Yasser Arafat gets my vote as one of the ugliest people who ever lived. RACIST. This is a term which is way overused to the point of being meaningless. It is not racist at all to label someone as black or any other color, any more than it is racist to label someone a woman. Americans are no more racist than anyone else. The Japanese may be a lot more racist than Americans. I have a chicken with black feathers. I named her Blackie. Now I ask you, is that racist? For the most part the term 'racist' has no meaning at all, because it is the last argument used by people who cannot justify their own position on a subject.

1. Yeah... Lotta fat people here, but not all of us are. I am not aware of women tending to be more fat though. 2. I think the steriotype is half right. I think most of us embrase our heritage as well as being an American. 3. Personally, I don't care too much about news. I do keep informed on topics important to me though. So personally I would be ignorant of the world as well as the US. I can't speak for the majority of us on this issue though. 4. No, I don't consider myself ugly; I consider myself me. 5. I don't label people by skin colour usuly. If I do, it is no different than any other feature. i.e. hair length, eye colour, or tattoos.

6. prosper in the richest country in the world 7. Live in mostly beautiful surroundings and have everything one would want. 9. Have the best hospitals, and health care in the world 10. have the best schools and universities. 11. most people still have their teeth at 70. 12. less diseases than most countries 13. the right to worship our God of choice, for me its Jesus Christ i could go on. but, i've made my point. it seems most of your comments are negative, and I will not answer you!

Stereotypically speaking- Americans do have a weight problems-that doesn't seem to be going away with this generation of kids. We don't necessarily claim to be from that "country", but you do hear all too often I'm a quarter.......fill in the blanks. You see this most often with Native Americans and "African" Americans. I hate that, drop the first part-if you were born in Memphis, lived in Memphis and will die in Memphis TN, then you're an American despite the color of your epidermis. I agree that many Americans are ignorant of the world outside the ocean walls. It is more unfortunate when they have the mentality of, "Well, if they don't like it then get a better army." Or, "Don't like it, don't move here and stay out". #4??? I live in Germany, and I think most Americans are thought of as relatively good looking (movie stars and such). I heard one woman say that we make beautiful babies, lol. 5. I agree-but, I think now a days racism exist more in those whose pigment is not Caucasian. There are a group of people who grow up with this separatist mentality, and it is unfortunate.

1). Personally I'm not fat but yes, in general I think America is. 2). Nope, I simply say American. 3). While I am by no means an expert, I think I am pretty informed about the rest of the world. 4). I don't think I am ugly, but you know what they say; Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...lol 5). No I'm not racist.
15 :
1. no. i'm 115 lbs. and 5'4" 2. no 3. hmmm... i've been to europe, asia, latin america and australia. ..... reads awful lots of new york times and financial times. 4. i'm actually pretty hot. 5. i might be a little racist to the person who takes my delivery when i have to yell my order multiple multiple times on the phone.

The only one that has some validity is #1. There is an obesity epidemic in this country but it doesn't just affect women, it affects all Americans. The other four are just misleading stereotypes.Happy New Year. 2D

I don't agree with any of those, but considering you're going to school in Germany, from the news media that I've seen in Germany and what they think of Americans and their attributes, I'd say you're well on your way to an A+.

Are you hearing the song right? Also, what is the title of the song?
2 :
Since it's referencing space and the moon, perhaps it is meant to be "green beings" and "beings," as in aliens?
3 :
The singer says he's going mad, that he's insane, so I think he's singing things that don't make sense or that are like hallucinations.

Is it really important that my whole name on my passport matches my name on my social security card?
Is it really important that my whole name on my passport matches my name on my social security card?
I am an international student from Colombia on a F1 visa in Sacramento, CA. I have a first name, two middle names and two last names (hispanic, go figure) that are not hyphenated. My name is Paulo Cesar de Jesus Morales Castillo When I got my social security card, It only shows my first and last name, which is Paulo Morales. Also, my driver's license shows only my first name and last name too. Is there any problem if my name in my social security card or driver's license doesn't fully match my name on my passport???? or should I change them? If so, how can I make two not hyphenated last names into one single last name? Thanks!

yes

I don't think it's necessary to include those because they are middle names and also you have other documents with just first and last name, so I think you should be ok.
