international student university help?
I do not live in the united states, i live in Colombia and I really need answers these two questions about going to a university in the US. 1.In colombia, people graduate when they finish 11th grade instead of 12th, do i have to do 12th grade in the US before i can enter a university or can i just show a certificate or something? 2.Here, we don't do SATs, we have something called ICFES that we have to do for universities, how would I be able to do the SATs to cualify to enter a university un the states?

Depending on your specific case, grades, age, etc., you may have to sit the 12th grade, especially as it would help you gain more experience with American history, teaching trends, college admission procedures (VERY different from Colombia in that matter), etc. You can sit the SAT in Bogotá, it's obviously not as common as Saber 11 but some people (more each year) do it in order to accelerate their process. To sign up for it, you can do it at the ets website via credit card, and you can schedule your exam. Same for ACT. As you are most likely a proficient Spanish-language speaker (judging by your [very good] English orthography - people who are sloppy tend to be so in any language they use), you can also get some Spanish credits via CLEP once you get to the States. BTW, I understand the Colombo-Americano institute gives some free assistance (and some very expensive guidance) for people wanting to go there, in terms of requirements, forms, schedules, etc. Remember that the process usually takes about a year and a half from the moment you decide to go there to the moment you begin your first day of school. It may be a bit more or a bit less depending on your case. So, whatever your goal is, keep reading, keep asking (here or anywhere else), keep searching, and sooner or later you'll be there.
