I want to visit my girlfriend (she is from france), She already sent me the form from the town hall, and I have like 5000 AUD for my trip, I want to go for 1 month. is it possible to get the visa applying from Australia? I forgot to mention, my current Australian visa is electronic. So is not stamped in my passport.

Yes. Apply to the French Embassy or Consulate nearest you.

In order to apply for a visa to France you will have to hold a valid Australian visa in your foreign passport. From the France Embassy in Australia [FAQ]: Question: My Australian residency is not stamped onto my passport but it is on a loose sheet or is an electronic visa. Can I still apply for a visa? Answer: Under Schengen Regulation, your Australian visa must be endorsed on your actual passport. However, if your residency sticker is on an expired passport, you may apply for your visa as long as you produce both passports. From the Australian visa website: [thanks to Ozmaniac] Visa label You will not have a visa label inserted in your passport if you lodged your application online. A visa label is not required, however if you want a visa label inserted in your passport, you can go to any departmental office to have your visa label printed. You need to go to the Australian Immigration Office to have your visa added to your passport before you can apply for the French visa. http://www.immi.gov.au/contacts/australia/ .. After you have gotten that you can apply for your French (Schengen) visa. Your bank account of AU$5000 will suffice since the required funds per day of stay are determined at the minimum daily wage in France which is €61 [~AU$104] at present. http://www.ambafrance-au.org/france_australie/spip.php?article1112 ..

Are you living in the dorm or outside. There's really no average per se in HK. A guy making HK$100,000 a month surely eats and dress differently from a guy that makes HK$10,000. HK can be quite expensive, however unlike most rich places which do not have a market for low incomes, HK has the cheapest Macdonald's in the whole world. A Mac meal can cost as low as under HK$30. A bowl of wonton noodle can be as low as HK$15, a fried rice can be only HK$20. If you rent an apt in a remote New Territories village, the rent can be as low as HK$2,500 - 3,000 a month. One litre of paper box milk is around HK$8. A loaf of white bread is around HK$10. So if you dont eat out and do only widow shoppings you can really save a lot of money.

Well, rent would be quite expensive because it's a metropolitan area but rates for food, clothing, electricity are really good and it balances out somewhat. Getting in touch with students shouldn't be hard either, 'cause it's a city!

Why doesn't y/a honor free speech in the way that Colombia U does?!?

Why doesn't y/a honor free speech in the way that Colombia U does?!?
I'm sure they don't expell their students for expressing strong viewpoints! Are institutes of higher learning not businesses as well?

YA is a private business.
2 :
I have no respect for Columbia Univ...
3 :
Columbia doesnt honor free speech or they would allow military recruiters on their campus, which they dont.
4 :
Yahoo is a business, not the US government. The Constitution only protects a citizens free speech from governmental interference. Please read the Constitution for more details. The point is that a business (SOME of which are institutions of higher learning) have the ability to decide what speech they will allow and what they won't. This means they still do not support free speech, as free speech means it cannot be impaired.
5 :
Yet another person who doesn't understand what "free speech" means
6 :
Y!A is controlled mainly by other posters reporting abuse. I am not sure how it works (i.e., how many reported abuses for a violation or how many violations to have your account deleted). Columbia doesn't honor free speech for conservative speakers such as the minutemen. The students attacked him physically. So much for free speech.
7 :
Privately owned businesses aren't required to supply a public soapbox.
8 :
Columbia U doesn't honor free speech or they would allow any party to speak and also allow Military to speak.
9 :
Oi... Columbia is handled just like Yahoo. Each has its own free speech rights that cannot be taken away. The individuals within have free speech rights, but those do not apply when on property not owned by themselves or publically. You cant go spout off about how horrible you think Jews are in the mall, but you can do it on your front lawn. They can remove you from the mall just like they can remove you from Yahoo or from a University. The best part of this is that when the situation was reversed a few years ago and liberal professors were fired from a conservative school for what they said, conservatives kept saying that the school's free speech rights gave them the ability to do it. In both cases I supported the schools. Dont be a hypocrite, form a belief and stick to it based on the belief, not based on how it helps or hinders your own agenda.

About 50 years the liberals ( at that time the communists and socialist in RUSSIA, still existed) made the decision that to gain control of the USA, the best way was to infiltrate the educational system, and "indoctrinate the young" at every opportunity !!! The liberals at that time made concerted efforts and gained control of virtually all of the PUBLIC education system. Have you noticed whenever the subject of 'school vouchers' comes up, it is the 1. Liberal Politicians, 2. The teachers / University Professors who start screaming, belittling, downgrading the private schools??? FREE SPEECH is protected by the liberals, FOR THE LIBERALS and THEY ARE THE BIGGEST ABUSERS OF WITHHOLDING THAT RIGHT FROM ANY ONE WHO IS IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THEIR PHILOSOPHY !!! Columbia is but a snow flake atop a huge iceberg.
