32 yr's old German wants to study in the US! Chances!?
Hi, I'm 32yr's old and from Germany. Work in a fulltime-job and attend a nightschool, where I get my university entrance qualification (High school graduation). My extracurricular activity are (only) chief editor of the school magazine and president of the student body. My average grade are B and some A's. I'm very ambitious and want to study Georgetown, PennU, Colombia, Dartmouth. What do you think are my chances? Seriously!

At 32 you would stick out like a sore thumb at typical colleges. At a school like Dartmouth for example, all the students will be under 25. These schools cater to a young crowd as do their activities. You need to look at schools that cater to the older student too. In the US you would be know as a non traditional student. Columbia would be a good choice as they have a program for such people called GSP. Penn and Yale also have such programs. Harvard has the extension school that offers mostly night classes to older students. As for chances, you would need very impressive grades and SAT scores to get into these schools. Basically, you will need to have been a very top student wherever you are coming from. You'll also need a great deal of money. Each of these programs will cost anywhere from $15-$50K per year depending on number of classes and the program. Financial aid for an older international student will be all but impossible.
